Nitrogen makes up 78% of the air and has the property of displacing oxygen. Nitrogen is therefore used, in particular, for applications in which oxygen is not wanted. In cryogenic liquid form, nitrogen is a powerful refrigerant.

Typical areas of application are the protection of production processes, e.g. for printed circuit boards, the cooling and frosting of foodstuffs, the inertisation of pipelines or tanks and cryogenic applications in industry.
