Sustainable Internal Machining of Process Vessels for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries
The goal of this project is to make the internal machining of process vessels for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries fundamentally more sustainable. The focus is on a fully automated vibratory finishing process developed specifically for pharmaceutical applications, which—through process adjustments—enables a sufficiently high and uniform material removal rate on the inner surfaces of metal components and vessels. Because the process parameters can be tailored to specific materials and components, it results in resource savings during production, reduced worker exposure to harmful dust and abrasive residues, lower CO2 emissions, and a significant increase in the service life of pressure vessels as well as transport and storage containers.
