There is always room for more sustainability
From 3 p.m., three presentations will emphasise the importance of Environmental Protection and Sustainability for exhibitors and visitors at POWTECH TECHNOPHARM. They will explore this topic from a variety of different angles. Dr Alberto Militare from LB Officine Meccaniche will present granulation and its role in making industrial processes more sustainable. Polina Aman from Nanofract will emphasise the importance of micro- and nano-milling in producing reference materials for environmental and health research. Finally, Fabien Schünke, the managing director of Herding Filtertechnik, and CMO Jörg-Armin Schulz will demonstrate the diverse environmental benefits of efficient filtration technology, such as CO2 reduction, and explain how it can be digitally networked.
Increased cyber security in mechanical engineering
At 4:30 p.m., the presentation will primarily target mechanical and plant engineers among the trade fair visitors and exhibitors, as well as anyone else who recognises the importance of Cyber Security. Laurin Dörr, Managing Director of TG alpha, who has over 13 years' experience supporting companies in the field of cyber security for industrial plants, will explain in his presentation that CE conformity cannot be achieved without cyber security. Anyone interested in the role of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) in this context should attend.
Who will be crowned the ChemCar champion?
At the end of Wednesday, the VDI and its specialist group VDI-GVC will be putting a special focus on the ChemCar competition at 5:15 p.m. The award ceremony for the final round will take place at POWTECH TECHNOPHARM for the first time. Student teams from process engineering and chemistry courses will enter model vehicles into the race, which are powered by (bio)-chemical reactions. The vehicles must cover a predetermined distance as accurately as possible while carrying an additional weight.
Well measured is half automated
On Thursday, the second major session on Plant Engineering, Automation and Process Optimisation will take place. There will be presentations on issues specific to bulk solids technology, as well as topics of interest to most trade fair visitors. Topics range from Granutools' expertise in real-time electrostatic charge measurement in powder processing, to modern operating concepts from Azo, and the use of Vega radar sensors and cloud services in inventory management. Those interested in the weighing electronics of dosing systems or sintered membrane filtration or wear protection will find plenty to interest them.
Starting at 1 p.m., Dr Stefan Mende from Netzsch-Feinmahltechnik will attempt to explain the complexities of formulation and process development for pigment preparations and inks in just 20 minutes. Lucas Nievelstein from Neuman & Esser Process Technology will present a concise overview of impact and jet technologies. He will compare impact separators and jet mills, as well as their respective areas of application, throughputs, and energy requirements.
Inspiration and tips for starting careers
From 2 p.m., the programme primarily targets young professionals among the trade fair visitors (Thursday is Student Day!), an initiative supported by the VDI. Under the heading 'Career Journeys in Process Engineering', start-up founder Ronja Weidemann, technical project manager Dr Silvie Müller from Merck KGaA, and Dr Sara Marchini, a research assistant at the Chair of Chemical Process Engineering at TU Dresden, will share their career journeys and offer advice. Lisa Schmitz from Hays will offer specific advice on starting a career. She will explain how to stand out with soft and hard skills.
The final two presentations at the POWTECH Forum 2025 will once again be highly technical. First, Andreas Eickmeier from CinchSeal will explain how an idea is revolutionising sealing technology. Finally, Günther Gschwandtner from Binder+Co will conclude with a presentation on the use of waste heat in fluidised bed drying plants.
